Dr. Alex Improta earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Stony Brook University in 2019 after completing is Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Alex is certified in LSVT, which is an exercise program for people that are diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. Alex volunteered and soon became an assistant coach at Rock steady boxing at Sag Harbor and Hampton Bays, NY locations in order to fight back at Parkinson’s. Also blood flow restriction certified, which helps early on in the post surgical recovery process by avoiding muscle atrophy and restoring strength & endurance. He believes in treating the person not the diagnosis, encouraging movement, & making client-centered goals. Also educating about modern pain science so clients understand why they are experiencing pain. The main objective is to get people back to their activities of daily living, returning to recreational activities & work duties at full capacity and pain-free. He plans on earning his Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) and being involved in academia for a doctorate physical therapy program in the future.
